What is it?

The C.I.T. Program a unique pre-vocation experience and an integral part of ORREC’s multi-tiered peer learning structure. C.I.T. are the direct contact for the 5th and 6th grade overnight learners. They provide supervision, emotional, and educational support while at camp or during camp events. The C.I.T. is the interface between the overnight learners and the Graduate Teaching Staff. As a C.I.T., participants gain vocational experience working with differing age groups in a unique natural environment while advancing their understanding of the application of the scientific method and peer teaching. C.I.T.’s will enjoy special age appropriate activities such as field trips, guest speakers, and more!

The C.I.T. will be required to complete a four week pre-camp course where they will develop leadership skills and role modeling techniques. They develop peer and mentor relationships in a fun camp environment. Evaluations are conducted throughout the four-week training session and those who successfully complete the session will be invited to work as a C.I.T. for the season. At the successful completion of the season each C.I.T. will received educational credit towards their high school graduation certification.
